We got to priortise what is impt and what's not, cause this year it'll be different for the most of us! Different schools, different people we meet. alright, we had amazing time at YI camp and Christmas bash eh people? (: also, let's welcome JiaHao into our family! :D

all the bonding and and growing together in God really made it worthwhile, i hope it is to you too! :D the games and debriefs did give us bonding time. we're called to be the light of the world! this camp also made people have experienced many breakthroughs during the service, which is sooooo cool! Praise the Lord! Amen! :D

christmas bash was cool too! all the new faces eh? huitian, junyuan, yuhui(?) and probably more which i left out. sorry, cause i cant remember. hopefully that the seed has been planted in their hearts! :D photos at doreen's blog! (some of them) www.doreen1991.nutang.com go there and take. hehehe.

tmr there's cell group badminton from 1-3pm at cck stadium. do try to come!
also, there is christmas party at Faith's house on the 26th of december. remember to bring one present cause there will be gift exchange.

the 6th commandment: [deadly actions and deadly emotions]

-exodus 20:13

actions
-murder:brutal premeditated assault with the intention of taking someone's life
1.euthenesia
2.abortion - we need to value and respect lives

emotions
-mental and physiological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thots and behaviour

anger
-to be furious with someone is guilty of murder
- thots is the parent of the deed and is equally condemned
-your intention counts (kill physically and emotionally-thotlife)
-its what you do with anger that counts (eph 4:26)

2forms of anger
1. destructive anger
-violent outburst whr you lash out blindly and hurtfully at someone
-focus to make person angry

2.constructive anger
-cooler. more focused rxn where you decide to go and do smth about the prob
-focus on getting prob solved
eg. righteous anger (matt 21:12, 13-14)
-be careful as CA may turn into DA
-we are not perfect. we ought to think what to do next (count to 10)

Handling anger
1. control your anger
-cannot let it just happen
-james 1:19-20

2.remind yourself
-speak when you're angry and you will make it the best speech that you will ever regret

3.analyse our feelings
-quieten down our hearts and look at the entire situation
-God is love!

5th Commandment: Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

the highlighted part is actually a promise. the first commandment to have a promise. Amazing! :) but it shows that it's quite important.

1. Home is a place where authority is learnt.
2. Home is a place where heritage is acquired.
3. Home is a place where love is experienced.

Parents love us but they never show it out; They know more than we know ourselves.
Experience love of God by experience the love of parents; love them the way they are.

2 forces acting against us!
-trying to find our identity
-tendency to feel intense about things (extremes)

5 things to honour our parents:
1. providing them physically and financially.
2. Live an honourable life.
3. acknowledging and involving them in our life stages.
4. taking care of them all their lives
5. leading them to know Jesus.

-vulgarity : a coarse /low level language. offends social & cultural values
-obsenity : indecent language that speak against sexual values
-blasphemy : irrelevant talk against religious values. Eg ' oh my God!'

3ways we misuse God's name
-speech, actions, worship

1.speech
-name symbolises someone or a company
-it carries authority
-YHWH (YaHWeH) : Exodus 20:7
-to use in vain : use in a careless way, flippant manner
-cuss words : cursed words. eg: 'damn it. bloody hell!' (has God's name in it), 'bugger' : a person who sodomise. 'wahlao':bad word

2.misuse God's name thru our actions
-are we being good witnesses?
-when your friends misuse God's name, are you going to sit there and do nothing?
-Exodus 19:4-6
-God's ppl way of life reflects directly on God
-Malachi 1:6-14
-God chose a new group of ppl to bear His name. they are the Christians.
-the term 'Christians' means 'Christ-ones' or 'little Christ'
-our ations either pull peoplpe to God or pull them away from God
-we accept God, we have a trademark of God. we then bear the responsibilities\
-when we misuse God's name. we bring dishonour to Him.
Question : are you giving credit to God or to something else?

3.Misusing God's name by worshipping Him in the wrong way.
-'Amen': vote for it, stick to it no matter what.

John 10:10
Jesus did 30 distinct miracles in the Bible
Leprosy man : sometimes we're the ones outside looking at the others having fun.
Dead man : we're the living dead. lose our ability to eg, love, trust, unfufilled dreams or aspirations
Blind man : we lose our sense of direction. we cannot see what God wants us to do.
Ephesians 2:10, Jeremiah 29:11
Deaf man : we get bombarded by voices everyday. there is no clarity, thus, we dont know which to follow. eg, the voice of fear.
God gives us the right voice, its the clearest.
Spirit-possessed man : we can be controlled by something. eg, addictions, bad habits, culture, way of life or having the thoughts of being in a state of poverty
God can help us to quit and destroy it
Crippled woman : when we get hurt before, we love/trust with a limp

we think of people according to their labels and how we think they are.
we may have a definition on us, we're being defined. circumstances define us.
we dont have to live a life according to situations, circumstances or what people speak over our life.

3) AVOID WHAT ENDANGERS YOUR WORSHIP
-hardened heart: over exposure and under response of the truth
-repeated exposure to a particular truth and yet refusing to embrace and apply it, develops a hardened heart
-once an individual loses the ability tto discern God's prompting, he becomes open to anything
-when we change God's standard, it isn't God's standard anymore. we create a form of Christianity- one that doesn't accurately reflect what God truly thinks
-arrogance : is what we think that God should be
-he may bear a striking resemblance to God of the Bible, but the god is personalised. a variation of the real think, it is an idol.
-invisible friends are a figment to our imagination
-God wants to strengthen our weaknesses but we struggle when He touches our weaknesses
-God left us here because He wants us to be like Him. if we don't look like Him, He will not be able to reconigse us
-a hardened heart is difficult to track because it leads to numbness
-the degree of one's hard heartedness is equal to the disparity between what grieve the person & what grieves God

2 litmus paper tests
(1) - am i grieving by the same things that grieve God?
-do i feel what God feels?
-Am i bothered by the things that bother God?

(2)Would there be many similarities between the God of the bible and the god you follow?

-God has set us free from the bondages of sin
-covenant is a promise. but it starts only when we have a relationship with God

-if we dont center God in our life, the bible will not make sense to us

1.God wants us to consider carefully
-we crave to worship because we are made to worship
-colossians1:16 (we are made to worship and usually worship something that is of value)
-satan wants to distract us from the real source (God) by creating many other homecoming devices
-Isaiah43:10 (He is the only God)
-guard our worship against potential takers (fame,popularity,money. etc.)
-Psalms 96:5-6 (a war raging for our worship)
-satan tries to steal our worship
-whatever you worship, you become obsessed. whatever you are obsessed, you imitate. whatever you imitate, you become.

2.God wants us to choose
-count the cost : be a Christian all the way. not halfway (dont sit on the fence)

What makes a community last forever?

1.An environment of love
-cell group should be safe and secure

-our job is not to change someone's lives but to create the environment where the change can take place

3.a place where we feel belonged
-belonging to God's family requires commitment

-Human's basic universal needs->want to be loved, want to love. want to understand and wanted to be understood

4.A place where there is partnership

-fellowship can also be defined as partnership

-partners will cover each other in times of need

-find the lie then counter it with the truth
-knowing the truth is one thing. we must apply the truth and it becomes a lifestyle
-it will be uncomfortable for the first time. but it gradually gets better
-God wants to renew your mind with the truth, not just fill it with facts
-Matthew4:1-10
-use the truth against satan's lies!!

5habits we have to incorperate
1.use specific truth
-keep filling with the truth till the lie is totally countered

2.speak out the truth
-devil can predict what we are thinking
-when we see positive results, continue to keep applying it in your life
-we should use the truth for us to move on
-our feelings are wonderful followers but terrible leaders!!
-Psalms59:16-17
-verbalising the truth reshuffle our emotions
-take responsibility over your life. don't blame your parents! => we have been bought with a price and we are fearfully and wonderfully made

3.personalise the truth
-2corinthians10:5 (speculations : wondering how it feels like) devil puts them in our mind but we must choose not to entertain it!

4.pray the truth
-in order to put in the new, we should incorperate truth in our prayer
-Ephesians 4:29
-1 Peter 2:11 (lust war against your soul!)
-God wants us to cooperate with Him

5.meditate on the truth
-before we sleep, think of the word of God
-exercise, practice and speak out the truth! then there will be power!
-we have the priority to choose to memorise the scripture. that is the renewal!
-immense yourself in His teachings. -Discover the truth- Be made free!!

-Romans12:2
-renewing our mind is the change of our life.
-we either move towards God or away from God.
-sometimes we commit ourselves but it is just the external which is not important
-Christianity is a process designed by God. it does not guarentee a change but it renews our mind
-challenge a lie with the truth!

Renewing our mind is a 2part process.
1) we got to take out the old
2) we got to put in the new

Taking off the old
-we must learn to identify lies, misinterpretations, false ideas.
-we are not able to work to our potential because of the conventional lies.
-what we believe determines how we behave
-biblical imperatives apart from biblical thinking results in short term obedience and long term frustration
-colossians3:9-10
-we must change our belief.
-we must remove the dirt in our life and pour in the clean water.
-when our belief system is messed up, our whole being become messed up

LIES

1)honour our parents?
-it changes based on circumstances. but it does not change!!
2) i've always been this way?
-when we look back on our track record, we blame everyone but never make an effort to change
-second, my problem is more than God can handle. (WRONG)
3) Everybody else is doing it, God doesnt take it as serious.
-God forgives us for our sins but we must bear the consequenses of sin.
4) i can handle it
5)one time will not hurt
-behind each of these statements is the belief that there are no consequences for sins that are commited only once.
6) nobody will know
-angels and God knows. people will eventually find our.
7) but i'm in love
-toughest lies are those dealing with our emotions.
-emotions are temporary, consequences can last a lifetime.
-love is the anti thesis of sin (sex)
-lust is rationalizing for sin! love is not!

3short test on finding the lies
1) examine yourself and find our areas that we are overly sensitive.
2)examine your strongest temptation?
-always camouflaged and supported by lies.
3)examine areas in which you have inordinate fears.

We need to hold on God more.

-when we embark on a new journey, there will be pressure
-we must have a strong foundation on to God more (not programs, or routines or people)

-to build on solid rock: to be a hearing and responding disciple, not a superficial one (hypocrite)
-James 1:22-25 : Reflect and be a doer [DO IT!]
-we shouldnt have a know-it-all atttude! - there is still space to learn. we must co-work with God
-the fact is, human being needs to always practice and get himself familiar with the skills that he has, so that he does not forgot how we it.

1. we got to anticipate problems
-reconigse the lies of the devil
-are we giving a Christ-like response or self-centredness response?

2. We got to watch our reaction to the problem we are facing
-is it of the right attitude? Did we put God as our priority?

hello decided to post by at this blog..its ME!!!!!!!haven been to youth impact for such a long time already and i miss everything bout it...the fellowship,the many ppl ive met that turned into friends,the worship,the sermons,the encounters with God and of course Acts4!!!my dear ACts 4.2...wonder how is everyone doing????haha...i'm having my band competition on 12 April....2 more sats from now...but i am not sure if i would still be able to go back...but i will keep praying=)hope everyone is doing fine at school too!!!!

HEY ACTS4.2 SWEETIES!
there's going to be an outreach this saturday yea? let's pray for the people that we are inviting and that they'll be able to come w/o any saturday activities or parental objections! LET'S PRAY! :)) there's still time to invite! jiayou everyone! :)) Pray and live like it is going to happen! :D don't be discouraged about rejection but let's continue to give God all the Glory and Honour! Like how we enjoy every moment of serving God yeah? so hows your week? well, v-day has been really awesome for me! :D i had really seen God at work and that i have been really encouraged by the turnout of my class' reaction.
we gave cards, sweets and the personalised name badges to each and everyone of them. only me and dorcas were giving out at first and hazel,another young Christian believer in my class started to offer her help almost immediately. we were really encouraged by her actions.
one girl in my class, thaslim, actually kept thanking us for it and really very happy about it. (: another girl, chinjuan. a girl that we dont really talk much to, suddenly come and talk to us and started joking with us. really cool! some of them even went to the extend of wearing the badge on their uniform and that they were very supportive of what we did! (: really cool! i believe that we have alr planted a seed in them. unity sec is definetely going to see a great harvest soon! i believe its nearing! (: do keep our school in prayer! (:
we're sooooooo going to populate heaven and plunder hell! :D
